This book is intended as a textbook for a first course in the theory of functions of one complex variable for students who are mathematically mature enough to understand and execute E - 8 arguments. The actual pre- requisites for reading this book are quite minimal; not much more than a stiff course in basic calculus and a few facts about /5(5). "This book presents a basic introduction to complex analysis in both an interesting and a rigorous manner. It contains enough material for a full year's course, and the choice of material treated is reasonably standard and should be satisfactory for most first courses in complex analysis.

Even if component functions of a complex function have all the partial derivatives, does not imply that the complex function will be differentiable. See Example Some rules for obtaining the derivatives of functions are listed here. Let ½ and ¾ be differentiable at ¿ À 1. Á Á Â Ã ½ Ä ¾ Å ¿ Æ Ç À 2. Á Á Â Ã ½ ¾ Å ¿ Æ. 0. 1. Functions of a complex variable. TDP. This short tutorial is a companion material to the course on Functions of a Complex Variables. It is intended to help the student, but will replace neither personal lecture notes nor a good textbook.

I also bought the amazing pair of books Theory of Functions of a Complex Variable, by A. Markushevich, and yeah, those really are wonderful books for anyone studying complex analysis at any level, but they are also pretty expensive (although totally worth it if you like variety).

Flanigan's book is actually more readable than even Cited by: Functions of a complex variable are used to solve applications in various branches of mathematics, science, and engineering. It contains enough material for a full year's course, and the choice of material treated is reasonably standard and should be satisfactory for most first courses in complex analysis.

Functions of a Complex Variable and Some of Their Applications, Volume 1, discusses the fundamental ideas of the theory of functions of a complex variable. The book is the result of a complete rewriting and revision of a translation of the second () Russian edition.

Numerous changes and additions have been made, both in the text and in the. Introduction To The Theory Of Functions Of A Complex Variable by Thron, Wolfgang J. and a great selection of related books, art and collectibles available now at This book discusses a variety of problems which are usually treated in a second course on the theory of functions of one complex variable.

It treats several topics in geometric function theory as well as potential theory in the plane. In particular it covers: conformal equivalence for simply connected regions, conformal equivalence for finitely. This book is based on a series of lectures on “The Constructive Theory of Functions of a Complex Variable,” given at the Leningrad University by Professor V.

This is an advanced undergraduate course dealing with calculus in one complex variable with geometric emphasis.

Since the course Analysis I (B) is a prerequisite, topological notions like compactness, connectedness, and related properties of continuous functions are taken for granted. This course offers biweekly problem sets with solutions, two term tests and a final.

Complex Variables covers topics ranging from complex numbers to point sets in the complex plane, elementary functions, straight lines and circles, simple and conformal transformations, and zeros and singularities.

Cauchy's theorem, Taylor's theorem, Laurent's theorem, contour integration, and miscellaneous theorems are also discussed. This book is intended as a textbook for a first course in the theory of functions of one complex variable for students who are mathematically mature enough to understand and execute E - 8 arguments.

The actual pre requisites for reading this book .$\begingroup$ Well, the objects of functions of several complex variables are manifolds with a complex topological vector space ore, they are the centerpieces of the bulk of postth century analysis and geometry and the tools of sheaf theory via commutative algebra are deeply interwoven in a result of all this, any "pure" approach-say,emphasizing .Caratheodory's books Theory of Functions Vol.

I and II are closely related to our text. Also, I would particularly recommend Pólya and Szegö: Problems and Theorems in Analysis. Several chapters there deal with the subject of complex variables. Rudin's book, Real and Complex Analysis is also a valuable reference.
